Paint supplier PPG has joined forces with F&G Commercial to re-livery the Team WD40 transporter which has been wowing crowds at the British Superbike Championships.

PPG is now the ‘Technical Paint Partner’ for Team WD-40, run by Yorkshire-based GR Motosport. The teams riders include 21-year-old AMA rookie of the year and Daytona Sport Bike race winner Tommy Aquino and 22-year-old Jon Railton, both racing in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship.

Tommy, from California, is currently fifth in this first ever season racing in the UK, having recently secured his first race victory at Cadwell Park. The third rider at Team WD-40 is 15-year-old Joe Francis, from Chester, who is competing in the Monster Energy Motostar British Championship. Joe is currently leading the championship by 32 points with only three races left.

Following the team’s title sponsorship by WD-40 Specialist Motorbike, F&G Commercial, a PPG FleetWatch Commercial Vehicle repairer based in Huddersfield, UK, were tasked with a complete re-livery of the team’s transporter and hospitality unit.

A spokesperson for F&G Commercial said: “We were delighted to have been approached by the team to prepare a full paint specification for the team’s new 2013 livery using high quality paint products provided by PPG. By using the PPG Refinish Colour we were able to get an exact original formulation for the striking yellow and blue WD-40 colours.”

Brent Gladwin, Team WD-40’s manager, said:  “PPG’s products are of such a high quality that the lorry is easily recognisable to all spectators at the Superbike events. Such is the striking colour scheme that fans are attracted to it and we’ve had many compliments from fans and competitors. PPG, their expertise and their products are second to none and we’re really pleased with the project carried out by F&G Commercial.”
