A family in Co. Clare has had a lucky escape after a recovery truck crashed into their living room as they watched television.

The truck, which was carrying a crashed car from an earlier incident, crashed through a metal railing and into the house on the N67 at Ennistymon last week.

It appears the truck had a tyre blow out as it travelled down a hill causing the driver to lose control. No one in the house was injured and the truck driver was shocked but also escaped injury.

Two further recovery vehicles were needed to remove the damaged car and pull the first recovery truck out of the wreckage of the house.
