BMW has introduced an updated ConnectedDrive system that it says will, "Take automotive infotainment into a whole new dimension." The new system includes an intelligent emergency call feature which will pinpoint the car location in the event of an accident or breakdown.

As a result of customer feedback the new system will feature a SIM card slot that will enable owners to select their own service provider. The new software will also offer an improved interface and better speech recognition technology.

The Intelligent Emergency Call is a new feature that will alert emergency services to the location of a vehicle and even pass on information about the severity of an accident automatically.
