An enterprising company form Westmeath has created Irelands first fully electric wheelchair accessible vehicle which it believes will be the taxi of the future, playing a significant role in helping the country meet emission targets.

Donal Murtagh Mobility has developed the new concept, based on the Nissan E-NV200, a vehicle not yet commercially available in Ireland. The innovative zero emission taxi has been in development for 2 years and offers full wheelchair accessibility with a lowered floor conversion.

DMmobility is a company committed to creating more sustainable and eco-friendly transport for the taxi market and disabled mobility and has consistently invested in new engineering techniques and technologies to facilitate this.

The Nissan E-NV200 is a full 100% electric plug-in vehicle with a 40kw battery and fast charge system perfectly suited for the Irish taxi market. It will offer a range of between 200 and 300 Km on a single charge, some 60% further than previous generation batteries. It will come in 5 or 7-seater options, or 4 passengers plus wheelchair occupant. The wheelchair accessible lowered floor is designed to be safe and easy to use for the driver and passenger with a telescopic ramp option to make entry easy. It also features an advanced wheelchair securing system meeting strict European safety standards.

The new EV Taxi, which will be commercially available later this year, is now available for viewing and demonstration in the new DMmobility showroom at Unit 1 Moate Business Park, Moate, Co Westmeath. For more information contact Donal Murtagh Mobility on 090-648-1050 or visit www.dmmobility.ie
