Hugh is a founding director of the architect firm Douglas Wallace, a member of the Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland, past president of the Institute of Designers in Ireland and a well-known TV personality.

Since starting his company in 1982 Hugh has guided it's growth to become one of Ireland's leading architecture and design firms. Hugh has a passion for creative design that engages with its audience to create conversation and comment. He believes that good architecture is essential to create social cohesion and enhance enjoyment of our landscape and living environment whether in the city or countryside. It’s about creating a smile on people’s faces - creating a sense of place and belonging.

Hugh is a judge in RTE’s Home of the Year is where he opens the door to the most extraordinary homes in Ireland to see the creativity that abounds. He is also the presenter of RTE’s Great House Revival, his other passion, the restoration of our architectural heritage from the humble farm buildings to the great houses of Ireland. Outside of the day job, Hugh loves to cook. In 2019, he appeared on Virgin Media’s The Restaurant and was awarded five stars.

Hugh joins the DS Automobiles team at an exciting time for the brand, as it launched last year in the Republic of Ireland with a stunning range of premium vehicles. Hugh’s choice of motor is the ALL NEW DS 4 E-TENSE PHEV (plug in hybrid) in a vibrant Velvet Red colour, a model voted by Festival Automobile International jury as the Most Beautiful Car of 2022.

Speaking of the new partnership with Hugh, DS Automobiles Ireland Marketing Manager, Jana Solovjova, said: “Hugh’s reputation in the architecture world and passion for finer details, is perfectly aligned with our target audience, whilst exceptional design and appreciation of using premium, well-crafted materials are areas where we see real parallels with our own brand values. DS Automobiles embodies innovative, luxury design, French savoir faire and exceptional know-how. When we marry this up with Hugh’s style, charm and engaging personality, we think he’s a great fit for DS Automobiles. We are very much looking forward to working with him on various projects in the coming months and years.”

Hugh commented on his new appointment: “'I'm delighted to work alongside DS Automobiles. The cars feature exceptional design and a very premium feel, which stood out to me personally. The brand has already been doing some great things this year, I am very excited to be part of its future and work with the DS team.”
