Cost of living crisis causing many missed services
Share:

Research in the UK by Volkswagen Financial Services has shown that a third of drivers have put off a scheduled vehicle service to save money during the cost of living crisis.

Younger motorists, especially, are more likely to put off essential maintenance, with 43% of those surveyed saying they had skipped a service because of financial pressures. A quarter of all drivers admit to driving a vehicle when they know it needs essential maintenance.

The findings highlight the genuine financial concerns that many drivers are currently facing and how they must stretch their income to cover more and more. Unfortunately vehicle maintenance can often be put down the priority list, which, as every garage knows, is usually a false economy. Often scheduled servicing is also put off because the driver forgets it is due, highlighting the importance of on-going customer communication and service reminders.
