The New Ring Automotive Workshop Solutions Demonstration van made its debut in Ireland, touring around garages and workshops in the North West and Midlands, together with staff from distributors Strongline Autoparts and local motor factors.

The Ring Workshop Solutions Van, showcases the latest products and innovations from the renowned lighting and equipment specialist and is operated by Technical Manager, Alan Povey, who has a wealth of experience in the industry. The van allows Alan and local Ring suppliers, to bring Ring’s leading products and technical expertise direct to technicians and give them the opportunity to see this equipment in action. It also gives garage owners an insight into Ring’s promotion and merchandising tools.

Alan Ward of Strongline comments, “The Ring Workshop Solutions Van is a great way for garages to get hands on with Ring equipment and really see what it can do, rather than looking at it on a screen or in a brochure. We have had an excellent reaction to it from owners and technicians.”

Alan points out that Ring’s LED workshop lighting range has impressed many people especially the new MAGflex range which offers powerful, flexible and accessible lighting for any job. This comes in the form of four unique lamps. The compact Mini 250 delivers a lumen output of 250lm together with complete flexibility including a 180-degree flex base ratchet mechanism to position the light where required. Plus, there is a hook and magnets for hands-free working and a top torch. A slightly more powerful option is MAGflex Max 500, offering a bright white light output of 500lm lumen for complete illumination of the engine bay, as well as full direction flexibility and a UV torch.

The MAGflex Slim 500 offers even more versatility, bringing light to even the darkest of places thanks to its enhanced adjustability with its slim, foldable design and 270-degree twist. Lastly the MAGflex Headtorch 250 impressed technicians as a simple hands free option.

However, perhaps the greatest interest was in Ring’s battery care and maintenance range. Alan commented “Batteries is an area of big change for garages and also big opportunities. By having the right testing and maintenance equipment, garages can open up a range of new business avenues and also be more efficient in this area. Lots of workshops have invested in new Ring battery equipment as a result of this.”

A popular choice for technicians is the Ring RBAG750 Graphical Battery Analyser as it is easy to use, can provide a complete health check on both 12V and 24V vehicles and also can analyse the alternator, starter and vehicle earth via its intuitive graphical interface.

The RSCP4024 SmartChargePro 30A Battery Charger also attracted plenty of attention. This is a professional unit with a Lithium charging mode and is 12V and 24V compatible making it ideal for mixed fleets and workshops working on cars and trucks. It provides up to 30A continuous charge for battery support power supply function, rapid recharge in minutes and is Stop/Start compatible.

Smart battery chargers were also demonstrated and the Ring RMM500 Multi-Function Automotive Tester was bought be a number of garages. It is a flexible tool that has a current test mode that allows technicians to take amp readings directly at the fuse box without removing the fuses, as well as a voltage check, with a traffic light result indicator, giving an instant and easy-to-read assessment of the battery charge levels and an early indication of alternator or starter motor issues.

Another product area attracting good interest was Dash Cams. These are useful as an up-sell for garages, but are also much sought after by anyone operating vehicle fleets.

Alan concludes, “The van visit has been a great success and has really highlighted some of the super innovations in the Ring range. We have already lined up a return visit so we can get to other areas.”
