DAIMLER AG has taken a further step towards the construction of the world’s most advanced crash test facility with the award of the construction contract to Munich based MESSRING Systembau GmbH.

The Vehicle Safety Technology Centre is to be built next to Daimler AG's existing development centre in Stuttgart-Sindelfingen and will be designed to accommodate the latest developments and regulations in vehicle safety including testing with alternative drive systems and PRE-SAFE functions.

MESSRING has extensive experience with 100 globally planned and implemented crash test facilities and is well known for its innovative solutions and systems.

The vehicle safety technology centre will feature a total floor space of 55,000 square meters as well as a testing facility measuring 8,100 square meters. It will give Mercedes access to the most advanced facility available. The centre is due to open in 2016.
