ERRI (The European Rescue and Recovery Initiative) has extended the consultation period on its Recovery Standard Consultation Document from the end of October to the end of December to allow greater industry input.

The European Rescue and Recovery Initiative was instigated to bring together as many stakeholders as possible in the vehicle recovery and related industries. Each stakeholder comes from companies and associations that rely on or work with the vehicle recovery industry and ERRI’s main brief is to monitor and where possible, guide the fortunes of the vehicle recovery industry. As part of its operating brief the organisation is investigating the viability of a Recovery Standard Licence that is specific to the recovery industry requirements and this consultation process forms part of this.

Although UK based, one of the founder members of the group are the IFRS (Irish Federation of Recovery Specialists). The process is also relevant to Irish operators in that many already adhere to UK standards such as PAS 43.

According to Mark Crawley, ERRI’s Chairman, “Such has been the interest in the Consultation Document so far that we believe an extension to the original deadline will enable ERRI to achieve a far more balanced view from all the many comments and observations put forward by interested parties. Stakeholders within ERRI have worked exceptionally hard to develop this ground breaking Recovery Standard with the objective of it becoming internationally recognised standard. The deadline extension will ensure that everyone in the industry gets a more detailed opportunity to comment on and ultimately influence the development and implementation of the Standard.”

The Consultation Document has been developed by the Standards and Regulatory Committee that forms part of the ERRI organisation, whose members come from the various sectors of the industry including operators, associations, work providers and industry advisers.

The Recovery Standard Consultation Document can be accessed via the link on the new ERRI website homepage on www.erri.co.uk
