A good news story for Irish industry came out of the recent Geneva Inventions Fair, where Cork based company Telltail Emergency Messaging won a silver innovation award in the auto category. Over 600 inventors from 45 countries took part in the event, which attracted 60,000 visitors.

‘Telltail’ is a device, which is located behind the rear number plate of a vehicle. When activated, the number plate moves down and allows for a number of pre-programmed messages to be displayed. The developers say that it will be particularly useful for disabled drivers with medical conditions. They also have a device that links to GPS systems, to allow remote messaging and immobilisation of a vehicle.

The company says it is currently finalising manufacturing arrangements and products will be available over the coming months. For more information visit www.telltail.ie.
