NGK-sponsored Speedway star Rory Schlein has captured the British Speedway Championship trophy, becoming the first Australian to lift the title.

Rory saw off a strong challenge from Richard Lawson, triple world champion Jason Crump and fellow NGK-sponsored Steve Worrall in the final of a meeting staged behind closed doors in Manchester, with the action streamed online.

Weather conditions were far from ideal as riders defied constant rain to put on a good show for fans watching online.

NGK Spark Plugs is a long-time supporter of Speedway and also sponsors Chris Harris, who scored 10 points and reached the semi-final of the British Championship, and Drew Kemp, who notched 8 points.

NGK Spark Plugs Marketing Manager Mark Hallam said, “It was a fantastic achievement by Rory to become the first Australian to win such a prestigious title and it was great to see Steve make the final too. The racing proved very exciting for Speedway fans who watched it online and who have been denied the opportunity of seeing their favourites in live action this year.”
