NGK’s record breaking MO70 Dragmower has been named Best Marketing Initiative at the company’s Europe Middle East and Africa Virtual Convention. The mower, which became the fastest lawnmower over 1/4 mile when it completed the distance in just 9.49 seconds with a top speed of 115.53mph last year, was the star of the show at various exhibitions in the past 12 months.

MO70’s performance tops many supercars. It was transformed from an original ride-on mower, by seven-time British drag racing champion Andy Robinson and was piloted by NGK’s Scottish Sales Representative John Catterson at Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire.

Mark Hallam, NGK Spark Plugs Marketing Manager, said, “We are delighted to have received the award. I’d like to pay tribute to everyone involved in the project but especially to John. We are now looking forward to setting official Guinness records when we are able to get back on the track with MO70 which can still cut grass and uses NGK IMR9C-9HES spark plugs.”

NGK Spark Plugs embarked on the project to highlight how important the horticultural sector is for the company in terms of spark plug sales and to raise the profile of NGK in the horticultural sector. MO70 has attracted lots of interest from visitors to the company’s stand at a variety of trade shows since its record-breaking run.
