The NGK-sponsored M-Sport Ford World Rally Team’s Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin secured a podium finish at Rally Mexico, bringing their EcoBoost-powered Ford Fiesta WRC home in third place.

Elfyn Evans, whose car is fitted with NGK spark plugs and NTK Lambda sensors, achieved the eighth podium of his career, and his first alongside Scott Martin. Rally Mexico is considered one of the toughest events in the FIA World Rally Championship. Regularly posting top times, the Welshman held second position for much of the event before being pipped for second place by championship leader Ott Tänak who finished behind eventual winner former M-Sport world champions Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia.

Elfyn said, “It’s a good result, but I can’t help but feel a little disappointed because second place should have been on the cards this weekend. Unfortunately, there were just a couple of things that cost us quite a lot.”

Mark Hallam, Marketing Manager, NGK Spark Plugs said, “It was a tremendous performance by Elfyn and Scott in demanding conditions and will give him and the whole M-Sport team increased confidence for the rest of the 2019 WRC season.”
