Can a BMX rider jump a moving Formula 1 car?

Young bike riders will often dream of stunts that they can do, but it is not often they get to act one out as an adult. BMX rider Kriss Kyle got to live his dream with the help of the Red Bull F1 team, but as you can see from the video it takes a lot of planning to make the two second stunt work. 


Jumping over an F1 car, driving right at him, proved to be a big challenge for Kriss and his team. It all initially took place at the Knockhill circuit, where he practiced getting the jump timing right in parallel to the approaching car. A rising wind and lack of time made it impossible to get the stunt right, but they later got an opportunity to go again at Goodwood.  

Days of practice, perfect timing and lots of stop motion computer analysis went in to making the final jump a success. Kriss also stressed it was vital to have a driver who was fully on board and someone he had complete faith in. Ex F1 racer and current commentator David Coultard stepped in to do the honours.
