When replacing a suspension arm, it is important to make sure to tighten the fastening screws of the exchanged arm in the deflected state to avoid problems.

The tightening of the screws in the rebound state is a serious assembly error, that results in an overload of the rubber bearings. This may lead to cracks that result in the premature failure of the bearing. The axle geometry also changes and causes additional costs such as increased tyre wear.

To overcome this issue, many SWAG suspension arms have a rubber bearing where the installation position is identified by a marking. For example the SWAG suspension arm for the Audi A4 front axle (SWAG no. 32 73 0017 – cross reference 4DO 407 151 P) is a common replacement item and has this marking to assist technicians. When the marking of the suspension arm and the countermarking on the drive assembly carrier match, the installer has the peace on mind of knowing the job is done right. SWAG components also offer the advantage of having OE rubber bearings pressed into the cross struts in the SWAG production process for improved quality.

Another common problem is that of the rear trailing arm bush on the Ford Mondeo 07, Galaxy 06 and S-Max 06, which are not available separately from the manufacturer. This meant that if this bush failed, the whole unit would have to be replaced, as the components could not be bought on an individual basis.

SWAG has come up with an effective solution to this issue by making the rear trailing arm bush available separately. The component fits the Ford Mondeo 07 / Galaxy 06 / S-Max 06. Part Numbers are:
Repl. no. 1 566 837 S1 - left
Repl. no. 1 566 810 S1 - right

SWAG also offers the rear trailing arm bush as a complete kit where required (SWAG 50 94 3403). This contains all the necessary screws for a professional replacement.
