Nissan reveals EV drivers are travelling further than ICE motorists

Ahead of World Environment Day, research findings from Nissan have gone some way to dispel popular myths surrounding EV ownership and indicate an end to range anxiety. The survey found that EV drivers are yearly travelling over 370 miles further than petrol/diesel car users with 70% acknowledging EV range autonomy is better than expected

The research showed that European motorists driving EVs averaged 14,200 km a years while the average for internal combustion engine (ICE) drivers was 13,600km.

Other findings were that 69% of EV drivers are happy with the current charging infrastructure available and 70% say range is better than expected.

Concerns about cost, range and charging infrastructure were expressed by over 50% of petrol and diesel drivers when it comes to EVs, but the majority of EV drivers see these as outdated myths.

Nissan say that during the first decade of the Nissan LEAF, the world’s first mass-market 100% electric car has attracted over 500,000 owners globally. Collectively, these owners have travelled enough zero-emission miles to drive around the earth 400,000 times.
