Ignition and sensor specialist NGK has announced it is to sponsor motorcycle racing legend John McGuinness at this year’s Isle of Man TT and throughout the 2022 season.

The 49-year-old notched up 23 TT wins and 47 podiums during a glittering career which this year will see him compete in his 100th TT race. For TT 2022, John has returned to Honda Racing riding the 2020 Fireblade alongside partner Glen Irwin.

John said, “It’s like stepping back into an old pair of slippers. The stars have aligned for me to be back on a Honda for my 100th TT start.”  Prior to the five-year hiatus following the NW200 2017, he had been with Honda for 17 seasons.

NGK has long been synonymous with the two-wheel bike scene both on the road and in the motorcycling racing arena where its spark plugs have helped the world’s leading teams and riders to numerous victories.

Mark Hallam, Marketing Manager, NGK Spark Plugs said, “We are delighted to be supporting John both at this year’s milestone Isle of Man TT and also throughout the 2022 season. He is an absolute legend of the TT and has a vast number of devoted fans many of whom turned out to see him when he appeared on our stand at the Motorcycle Live Show last December.”

John will sport the NGK logo in all six races when riding for the official Honda Team at the 2022 Isle of Man TT and also when he competes in the 600cc races at this year’s event which is being held on May 28-June 11.

The company will also be supporting him when he rides at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed and at all Northwest 200 and BSB races in 2022. In addition, John will also make personal appearances on the NGK stand at this year’s Motorcycle Live when three of his bikes will also be featured on the company’s stand.

NGK is the world’s number one original equipment fitment and its Iridium IX spark plugs are popular with motorcyclists for their ability to provide enhanced ignition efficiency, better acceleration, faster starting and smoother running, longer life, and better fuel consumption.
