PPG has announced the introduction of D8082 UV Cured Primer Surfacer, new technology designed to help bodyshops reduce energy costs and increase throughput.

The new product uses advanced UV technology enabling a rapid cure of the primer using UV light to deliver significant process efficiency benefits and reduce costs for bodyshops versus conventional priming. D8082 requires no flash off between coats and can be cured in as little as 4 minutes under a UV lamp. This means significant time and costs savings for bodyshops.

PPG say using this new UV-Cured Primer Surfacer can dramatically reduce the cycle time of a vehicle repair, with a single visit application resulting in greater productivity and profitability. Added to this, the unique clear characteristic of the UV-Cured Primer Surfacer offers complete visibility of the repair below the primer meaning the repair area is kept to a minimum; saving material usage and time. D8082 is also very easy to sand.

According to PPG, UV-Cured D8082 offers a route to achieving an extremely fast and easy throughput of high quality small repairs, whilst also achieving substantial energy and material savings, thus ensuring greater bodyshop profitability.
