Mirka has announced a big investment in new production and logistics facilities at its base in Nykarleby, Finland.


KWH Mirka will make a total investment of some €11 million to include a new production line, further processing lines and improved facilities for logistics and shipping.

The new production line will employ new techniques and innovations for both efficiency and energy-saving and will enable production of completely new kinds of products with added product flexibility. The production line is unique and draws on the huge experience in abrasives production that Mirka has gathered during the past 70 years.

”The new production line will give us completely new possibilities. With our new technique, we are able to develop totally new kinds of products, and these can be produced in a cost-effective way in high volumes and, when needed, adapted to customer needs”, says Stefan Sjöberg, Mirka’s President & CEO. Ha adds, "We have a good growth in the market, and we can now guarantee that we can not only meet the demand but also continue to be the forerunner in our business with innovative new solutions”.

Peter Höglund,  Mirka’s Chairman of the Board also comments, "The new investment in Jeppo is essentially about competitiveness. In order to be able to successfully compete in the world market with products produced in Finland, we must have the courage to invest in new technology, unique products and processes. We will simply have to ensure that we are one step ahead of competition the whole time.”

Mirka plans to start the building project after in the autumn and the facilities will come on-line in 2015.

Mirka is a major supplier of abrasives, tools and accessories to the automotive refinishing market with its range of innovative product solutions favoured by many Irish repairers.
