Sam Moffett scored a hollow victory when he repeated his 2013 victory in the Joule Donegal International Rally with his co-driver James Fulton.
The Monaghan pairin brought their Fiesta home to victory by thirteen seconds over Craig Breen and Paul Nagle in another Fiesta.
However, the three day event was sadly curtailed following a fatal accident on the final day’s first stage at Fanad Head which claimed the life of Letterkenny man Manus Kelly, the rally winner for the last three years.
Once Moffett got into top place, he stayed there to the end, becoming the first driver to beat Breen in this year’s Irish Tarmac Championship’s five rounds.
However, with both of these drivers electing to drive WRC cars this time, which are not eligible for points in the series Devine scored maximum points. Each of the top three drivers at the finish is a previous winner of the Billy Coleman Award for Young Rally Driver of the Year.
