Gates had a strong presence at Automechanika, Frankfurt, using the show to highlight the importance of electrification to the survival of the independent aftermarket.

Under the theme ‘From Provider to Partner’, Gates was promoting a transfer to ‘Electric Thinking’ so that workshops can remain competitive.

The company highlighted OE pedigree and demonstrated how its drive and cooling systems solutions, hybrid parts range, and E-Start products are providing profit opportunities and helping garages to satisfy market demand. Gates was also showing innovation and solutions for a new generation of cars.

The Gates stand showcased the company’s transitioning powertrain offer from the Internal Combustion Engine to Hybrid and Electric Vehicles. There was also a gaming area where visitors to the stand could take part in a virtual reality experience.

Steven Zimmer, VP automotive aftermarket sales, EMEA at Gates commented, “Electric Thinking is the driving force behind our offer and therefore, the focus of this year’s Automechanika. Gates believes that to manage a successful transition into EV maintenance, garages will need not only relevant products and technologies but access to a vast amount of technical information. We are continually developing new training materials, keeping our customers ahead of the game. We already have the infrastructure in place to deliver the support that our distributors will need to service the requirements of their garage customers.

The Gates hybrid parts programme, E-Start Micro-V Belts and E-Start Micro-V Belt Kits is currently one of the fastest, yet quietest stop start-systems in service. Products from the fluid power range on display included modular coolant hoses and electric water pumps, both fast growing ranges that are already adding value for both distributors and installers.
