First Line has identified an issue with a coolant pipe on the 1.4TD engine used in many popular PSA, Ford, Mazda, Toyota and Suzuki applications. These engines have been known to experience coolant leaks from worn or brittle coolant pipes.
In particular, the water pump to engine hose on these popular 1.4TD applications connects directly into the pump, which when replaced either during the timing belt interval or through general wear and tear, is prone to failure.
The plastics used in the construction of the pipes can become brittle and crack. This is caused by simple age and deterioration of the product, which may be induced sooner if the coolant hasn’t been changed according to the manufacturers schedule, as the protective inhibitors will have diminished over time.
First Line therefore recommends for best practice to replace this water pump to engine hose each time the water pump is replaced. To facilitate this the company has introduced a replacement hose, FTS1127 to its extensive Cooling range.
