Any Savva, who is the man behind the successful aftermarket consultancy business “The Garage Inspector”, has completed the first of what he hopes will be many courses in Ireland aimed at independent garages.

The one day course, “Financial Understanding for the Garage Business” took place at the Grup Eina training centre in Swords and attracted garages owners and operators from all over Ireland.

Drawing on his experience as the founder and developer of highly successful independent garages in the UK, Andy was able to provide those attending with a greater insight and understanding of garage operational finances as well as sound practical advice on how to make a garage operation more efficient, more profitable and put it on a sound financial footing.

During the day Andy explained in clear terms and with practical examples, the fundamentals of finance for a garage including key terms and how to interpret the three main financial statements. He later provided an in-depth insight into the key performance indicators (KPIs) in a garage business and how these can be used to improve efficiency and profitability. The course also focused in on the importance of charging a realistic and profitable labour rate and the crucial issue of understanding labour recovery rates which are the true drivers of profitability.

The course was fully booked and all those attending gave very positive feedback on the content and presentation. All attendees left with a comprehensive workbook that will provide invaluable future reference material that will allow them to apply their new understanding of finance and garage operations which will facilitate dramatic improvements in profitability.

All of those who attended expressed a keen interest in attending future garage specific courses that Andy plans to run in Ireland over the coming months on Marketing Essentials and Customer Service Excellence.

Andy will next be providing training in Ireland at the Autoinform LIVE event which takes place in Cork at the end of April. Here he will be delivering a training module entitled “Labour – Your route to success” which demonstrates how to maximise profit from labour sales.

This is just one of a wide range of training modules that cover a huge spectrum of garage specific business subjects and technical, repair and diagnostic issues. A full listing of training modules and expert presenters can be downloaded here.

Autoinform LIVE takes place on Saturday April 27th and Sunday April 28th in Little Island, Cork.

To book your place at this must attend training event please call 01-905-9500 and select option 3.
