ContiTech advises on Fiat 1.6D timing belt change
Share:

ContiTech has made available detailed instructions for changing the timing belt on the Fiat Doblò (263) 1.6 D Multijet engine.

The company says large numbers of the 1.6 D Multijet diesel engines are installed in Fiat vehicles and that significant errors are frequently committed when changing the timing belt. To ensure that the belt change operation goes smoothly, the ContiTech Power Transmission Group has provided fitters with a detailed installation guide online with full illustrations. ContiTech experts provide a step-by-step explanation of the correct change procedure on a Fiat Doblò (263).

The manufacturer recommends inspecting and, if necessary, changing the timing belt at 150,000 km or after five years for vehicles without a particulate filter. In the case of vehicles with a particulate filter, inspection after 140,000 km or five years is recommended.

Contitech recommend that the tensioning pulley, idlers and water pump are also replaced at the same time as changing the timing belt.

Estimated labour time for the replacement is 2.7 hours.
