VW expands economy brake pads & disc range

VW has made three new brake pad additions to its range of Economy Parts.

The new products will mean improved coverage for popular older versions of the Polo, Golf and Passat, models adding to the already good application coverage available on SEAT, Skoda and VW commercial models using the same platform.

The Economy Parts product range recognises that economical parts provision is important for the effective servicing and repair of older vehicles. In the case of brake pads, all parts meet strict Volkswagen AG safety standards, but have a simpler specification to reduce product variations and lower cost. This may mean a slightly diminished level of comfort, but this is generally not recognised when a vehicle has been subject to the wear and tear of many years road use. Braking performance of these pads is excellent and on a par with the original genuine parts.

The addition of these three new part numbers, means the economy brake parts range now totals 13 different part numbers, suitable for older VW group vehicles. This represents market coverage of 80% in Segments II and III.

Economy brake pads are generally around a third cheaper than the genuine parts range and offer a lower cost alternative on older vehicles where repairs and servicing are more price sensitive.
