With under 25,000Km on the clock, the owner was none too pleased that his regularly serviced 2016 VW Caddy was suffering with a pronounced misfire.

After a similar problem only six months earlier, the fault was diagnosed as a faulty injector. The garage, at that time, had replaced the injectors in the number one and four cylinders.

The scanner detected fault code P0202, which indicated a problem with the injector in number two cylinder. The connector plug and circuit proved to be satisfactory, so the problem appeared to be within the injector.

As the owner had already had the other two injectors replaced, I suggested that replacing both the number two and number three injectors would be a good solution. I also recommended that the fuel filter be changed, even though technically it wasn’t due for a couple of years under the service schedule. While replacing the fuel filter, I would also check for any debris in the old filter. This would hopefully confirm that no other form of contamination was at the source of the problem.
