In business since 1979, Tom Murphy Car Sales is one of Ireland’s most popular and progressive dealerships, with a very strong customer base in its home county of Waterford and beyond. Six months ago it embarked on a new era in its development by becoming the official approved Toyota dealer in the area. As part of this development the team is very keen to grow the Toyota parts and accessories side of the business, which is seen as a key element in the future strategy of the respected dealership.

The operation is based around a state of the art sales and service development on the Cork Road in Waterford city. This opened in 2005, when the company out grew its city centre location. The future oriented new facility included Ireland’s largest all indoor motor centre, with expansive showrooms, and a very progressive service operation with 21 workshop bays, including express service facilities. Also with-in the complex is an extensive parts and accessories department.

Barry Murphy, Managing Director at Tom Murphy Car Sales, says the Toyota Ireland emphasis on parts sales has been very refreshing. He comments, “Toyota has provided great assistance in all aspects of the franchise in terms of sales, service and training, with the aftermarket team providing lots of assistance when it comes to developing our parts and accessories sales, especially on a trade to trade basis.”

Barry and his team quickly found that the Toyota Ireland attitude to parts sales was very comprehensive. He comments, “Toyota puts the emphasis on looking after both customers and cars, throughout the value chain and as such the company wants to see Toyota models of any age serviced an repaired with genuine Toyota parts, whether this is within a dealership, or an independent garage. This is well reflected in a product offer that not only focuses on product quality, but also excellent availability and competitive value.”

Barry adds, “Because of the emphasis that Toyota Ireland places on parts, we believe that there are great opportunities for us in this field and we are very keen to engage with all local garages and bodyshops, so that we can offer them a first class parts service. As a well established and respected dealership, we already have many strong and long standing relationships with motor trade businesses and we are keen to build on this trust under the Toyota banner.”

To this end, Tom Murphy Car Sales has a parts department team of experienced and knowledgeable staff, including; Parts Manager, Mariusz Garlacz, Lisa Borla, Aftersales Manager, Mikey Cummins and Emilia Gierga

Mariusz Garlacz, is a very experienced parts manager with more than six years expertise with Toyota parts in the Waterford area. This means he can provide invaluable assistance when it comes to identifying the right parts for a particular job quickly.

The team provides twice daily deliveries in Waterford City and a daily service throughout the county on Toyota parts. It also offers a delivery service across the South East region on Lexus parts.

Barry comments, “We know that many Toyota drivers want the peace of mind of having genuine Toyota parts fitted, regardless of where they are getting their car serviced. Our aim is to make this possible by providing excellent parts availability, a knowledgeable service, prompt delivery and good value to local workshops.”

Barry says he has been very impressed by Toyota Irelands competitive approach to parts pricing across the board which he believes makes these items very accessible. He also praises the Toyota TradePro programme, which has already opened up many new business relationships with local independents.

Barry and his team will continue to work closely with the Toyota aftermarket team to open up even more possibilities in the future, including on the Toyota Write Off Avoidance Programme.
