Q1 Tapes had an impressive stand at Automechanika Birmingham as its parent company, PPM Industries, sought to build on the highly successful launch of the premium masking tape brand at the 2016 show.

Since its launch Q1 has rapidly gained ground in both the UK and Irish markets and has become the preferred brand of masking tape for many prestige bodyshops, because of the many performance advantages it can offer.

The tape is made by PPM which is one of the leading tape producers in Europe. The Q range has been specifically designed to meet the needs of busy boy repair operators. The tape structure is engineered to deliver fine paint lines along the edge of the tape, thus limiting re-work.

The tapes are also easy tear, giving the shop tech better control while masking.  The low-tack design will not leave a residue upon removal, even after baking cycles in the paint booth due to its high temperature resistance. The tape also performs well on both solvent-based and water-borne paints and conforms well around curved surfaces.

As well as Q1 masking tape on the stand there was also a focus on many other products in the Q1 range such as foam tape, trim tape, drop film, masking paper and protective film.  The Q1 team were able to show how Q1trim masking tape provides a quick and easy solution to masking rubber trim around windscreens, sunroofs, tail lights and head lights, with its pre-cut easy dispensing strips and how Q1 Premium Foam Masking Tape is an effective solution to protect door and bonnet gaps from overspray.

Also attracting interest was Q1 Premium Masking Drop Film, an HDPE automotive masking film designed to mask off wide areas with a single and fast application. It features a slight electrostatic charge that helps it clinging to the vehicle while retaining paint overspray.
