Grand Cherokee - Sudden non-start Will the mouse or squirrel return?
Share:

This 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7 CRD had been running without fault the night before, but was now refusing to start.

We quickly discovered that no fuel was getting through to the injection pump, the tank was ¾ full, according to the gauge, and this was correct as far the owner knew. Checking through the fuel lines, we discovered that the small pipe up to the bleed off had a large hole which had suddenly appeared in it. This certainly could not have been there the evening before. I have seen this type of damage before, chewing from either a mouse or a squirrel. This problem is not restricted to owners living in a rural location.

The fuel pipe was repaired, before bleeding fully and starting the engine.
