Delphi unveils latest round of first-to-market brakes

Delphi has unveiled its latest first-to-market braking releases, with parts now available for several new Nissan, Renault and Fiat models.


Brake drums and shoes, once a staple in automotive braking systems, are seeing a comeback in some vehicle segments and feature heavily in Delphi’s latest roll-out.

“Brake drums had largely taken a back seat in favour of disc brakes but their resurgence in certain markets is thanks to advancements in technology and their cost-effectiveness,” said Carl Lester, Global Product Line Manager at Delphi. “Improved heat dissipation, enhanced materials, and better lining materials, addresses some of the historical drawbacks of drum brakes, such as overheating and reduced braking efficiency. A weight saving over discs and pads means drums and shoes are also helping vehicle manufacturers reduce emissions.”

The latest additions include rear brake shoes (Delphi reference LS2183) for the Nissan Juke, Nissan Townstar, Renault Captur, Renault Clio and Renault Kangoo 06/2019 on. Delphi now also has rear brake drums for the Renault Captur 01/2020 on (Delphi reference BF597) and Express 05/2021on  (Delphi reference BFR611), plus rear drums (Delphi reference BF594) for the Dacia Sandero Stepway and Sandero 01/2021 on.

“We announced 28 first-to-market braking releases in 2023,” said Carl. “Delphi's first-to-market program ensures we’re the first to give garages access to braking parts for new vehicles. The frequency and speed at which we get these into workhops ensure they have access to the parts they need to fix newer cars earlier.”

Other new first-to-market releases include rear brake discs (Delphi reference BG4662C) for the Fiat Scudo and E-Scudo 01/2022 on, and front brake pads (Delphi reference LP3403) to the Hyundai i30N/i30 Fastback N 03/2021 on.
