With tentative signs of travel restrictions lifting, you might be planning a trip away for later this year and you could perhaps make it a trip down memory lane. A new motor museum with a difference is opening in Derbyshire in the English Midlands called the Great British Car Journey.

Unlike many other museums, this motoring attraction does not concentrate on rare or exotic vehicles, but the type of cars your mother and father might have drove, or were perhaps might have been your first car. You can even get the chance to get behind the wheel again.

The museum has over 100 carefully chosen vehicles which tell the story of The British Motor Industry. Visitors travel from the origins of car making in the UK and experience a story engineering, enterprise and endeavour, while getting to see popular cars from every era.

On display are many iconic vehicles that people will remember, fondly and not so fondly, such as originals Minis, Morris Minors, Capris, Cortinas, Escorts, Fiestas, Granadas, Allegros, Metros, Maestros and many more.

There is even the chance to drive a selection of practical classics, with the “Drive Dads Car” experience. This gives visitors the chance to book a 20 minute accompanied in one of 30 vehicles, including; a Reliant Robin, TR7, Avenger, Rolls Royce, Austin 1100, Hillman Imp, or Sunbeam Rapier.
