Volkswagen Group Ireland hosted a media day at Mondello Park on June 19 to show-off their complete range of new cars to Motoring Journalists from all over Ireland.

In brilliant sunshine, all the latest models from the Audi, Skoda, SEAT and Volkswagen were available for journalists to test drive both on the track and on the open roads around Co. Kildare.

Those present were invited to test their car handling skills around the Mondello Park Circuit in the most powerful cars from all four brands including the Golf GTi, Skoda VRS, Audi S3, SEAT Leon Cupra, SEAT Ibiza Cupra and a specially prepared SEAT Leon FR race car.

There were a total of 40 cars available for journalists to sample from almost every publication in the country, some radio stations and TV participated in what proved to be a major success for the company.

Also presented for journalists was a range of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles for everyone to try both on- and off-road and on the race track. Many senior journalists enjoyed the chance to roll back the years with a selection of Transport Type Two vehicles and a glorious 1979 Volkswagen Golf Mark 1 which proved very popular with everyone.
