Volkswagen Group Ireland has recently taken measures to raise awareness of the types of materials, their location of use and the requirements for safe repair on Volkswagen Group Vehicles.

A pilot project in conjunction with Assess Ireland, the largest Automotive & Marine Engineer Assessing Company in Ireland, saw twelve Engineers take part in a full day of information sharing on repair techniques and all gained some valuable insight into the potential consequences of incorrect repairs on passenger safety by way of some stark crash test footage.

Commenting on the project, Trevor Lee, Body & Paint Business Manager for Volkswagen Group Ireland said, "It is fantastic to see such enthusiasm for this type of event, the commitment from each of the twelve Engineers on the day and their feedback since has made the event very worthwhile. It was a great opportunity to show the importance not only of fitting genuine parts but also how those parts should be fitted and the detrimental effect on vehicle safety when the repair guidelines are not followed”

  • Focus on Safe Repair of Volkswagen Group Vehicles
  • Materials used and Construction techniques
  • Implications of incorrectly repaired vehicles on passenger safety
