Volkswagen boss delighted with Q1 figures Paul Burke, Operations Director for VW Passenger Cars

Volkswagen Passenger Cars was the Number One car brand in March, with 1,803 registrations and 12.56% Market Share.


Volkswagen Passenger Cars remain the top-selling car brand in Ireland after the first three months of the year, with 6,093 units and 12.2% Market Share, according to figures supplied by the SIMI.

Commenting on the result, Paul Burke, Operations Director for Volkswagen Passenger Cars said, "We are delighted with the results to date, plus we have a very strong order bank and plenty of showroom activity. The Golf remains the best-selling car in Ireland too after the first quarter and we are delighted with the huge demand for this car, which is now celebrating its 40th birthday."

Volkswagen Passenger Cars will release several new models over the coming months, with a new MPV - the Golf SV, a revised Polo, revised Jetta and revised Scirocco all set to hit showrooms.

73% of all new Volkswagens sold in the first three months of the year were in the lowest tax bands of A, and 75% of all new Volkswagen's sold are powered by diesel engines.
