SIMI has said that its Safe Car Campaign has proved to be a major success at both consumer and member garage levels. The campaign encourages garages to offer customers a free 10-point visual vehicle check, while also promoting the importance of vehicle safety and maintenance to motorists.
In particular, the programme has highlighted the importance and benefits of regular vehicle servicing, to promote safe driving and awareness of the importance of vehicle maintenance. The free safety check has been available at a growing number of participating SIMI garages across Ireland, with garages able to identify any potential problems that may exist in the main safety features of the customer\'s car.
The campaign has received high profile coverage in national and local media, with major features on RTE’s afternoon show, on several radio stations and in local and national newspapers.
