The Motorsport Show and family open day, in aid of Paul Gallagher who was left paralysed after a serious rally driving accident while competing, was a hugely successful event. The event was held at Frank Byrnes Autobody Repairs bodyshop in Oranmore, Co. Galway, in association with the Galway Motor Club. On display were rally and racecars, sports cars, tractors, racing carts, vintage cars and a helicopter. Bouncy castles, face painting, sweets and a BBQ kept the younger children entertained.

One of the most popular events was stunt motorbike rider Mattie Griffin. He performed three action packed shows throughout the afternoon in the action area, with a stunning display, demonstrating just why he is 5th in the World at Free Style Stunt Riding on his Suzuki R1 Motorbike.

Annaghdown Judo Club, demonstrated the skill of Judo throughout a range of ages. World champion kickboxer Ken Horan, showed just why he is world champion, with an impressive display of kickboxing demos with his students from Ken Horan Kickboxing.

After such an enjoyable and successful event, people are already wondering what’s in store for 2010 and the possibility of a Frank Byrnes Motorsport Show & Family Fun Day becoming an annual event.

If you missed out on the day, you can still help in the recovery fund by going to www.paulgallagherrecoveryfund.com.
