Independent garages in Ireland and the UK have a big opportunity to secure more fleet business in these tough economic times. That is the message from the UK independent repair network Autosafe, which says it has increased its fleet business by a massive 530% this year.

It appears that fleet managers are increasingly turning away from franchised dealers in an effort to cut costs, while at the same time are becoming more aware that independents using original and matching quality parts can also maintain warranties.

John Morton of Autosafe says “Fleet operators and fleet managers face intense pressure to reduce costs, and are looking to the independent sector to help them, but they need to know that they are getting genuine value for money rather than just a cheaper price.” Morton also points out that maintaining a high standard of service and professionalism, is now more vital than ever to independents, especially those looking to secure regular fleet work.
