New figures from Ford Ireland say that over 90% of family cars being ordered are now diesel models. The company says this has been brought about by changes in the way cars are taxed, as well as savings on running costs.

Overall new diesel sales are now 52% of the market, compared to 32% last year and Ford says that excluding its super mini models, diesel orders now account for nine out of ten new cars.
