With used car prices continuing to rise in Ireland, motorist who have been involved in an accident and are facing the prospect of replacing a written off vehicle are often in for a nasty shock. The payout they get on their crashed car from insurance is often far less that it costs to buy an equivalent replacement, meaning they either have to buy a lesser, or older vehicle, or stump up often thousands in cash to make up the difference.

With this dilemma facing drivers on a regular basis, it is no surprise to find the uptake on the Toyota Write Off Avoidance Programme is now greater than ever. Arthur Power of Toyota Ireland says, “In the present circumstance keeping a marginal uneconomical repair vehicle on the road makes more sense than ever. The driver does not have the inconvenience and expense of finding a replacement car and gets to keep their own car on the road, while body repairers around the country also get to benefit from extra work.”

Arthur also points out that the programme is now even quicker and easier for bodyshops to access, usually getting a response from their local Toyota Dealer within 60 minutes. The simple message is that if a Toyota vehicle is classified as marginal uneconomical repair after an accident, or serious issue such as flood damage, the repairer, insurer and Toyota dealer can work together and use additional parts discounts on qualifying cars to have them safely repaired and keep them on the road. The programme is also proving a big success with 80% of applications for the Write Off Avoidance Programme approved since it first came into operation.

Arthur also makes the point that when cars are repaired through the programme the owners also have the peace of mind of knowing that they have been repaired to highest standards of safety and quality using genuine Toyota parts. He says, “We are aware that with some vehicles repairs are taking much longer due to parts supply issues. Toyota Ireland has worked hard in building very robust supply chains in recent years, meaning that our dealers have fast access to all the genuine parts they need. This means that in the vast majority of cases, Toyota vehicles can be repaired without delay and the customer can get back on the road faster.”

Repairers wishing to avail of the Toyota Write Off Avoidance Programme should contact their local Toyota Dealer Parts Department.
