There was a good attendance at the recent Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) lecture, held at the Dublin Institute of Technology at the end of October.
The theme for the evening was vehicle diagnostics, with the main lecture given by Autologic Training Manager David Phillips, who was introduced by IMI Leinster Chairman David O’Neill and Colin Reed, Managing Director of Diagnositc Solutions, who are the Irish distributors for Autologic equipment.
In a highly informative presentation, David Phillips highlighted the latest developments in the diagnostic field, with particular emphasis on the importance of good diagnostic equipment and techniques, in relations to vehicle control units. He went on to discuss the difference between effective coding and programming of units and how vehicle manufacturer changes to control unit technology, can have a major impact on the long term relevance of certain diagnostic tools.
David also spoke about the major investment in resources that Autologic continues to make, in order to offer effective and long term dealer level diagnostic solutions to the independent aftermarket, with particular emphasis on key vehicle marques such as Land Rover, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar and the VAG and PSA groups. He also touched on how independent garages can capitalise on business opportunities, offered by developing diagnostic expertise with a particular manufacturer’s vehicles.
