Access to effective vehicle diagnostic equipment and information is now a very key issue for independent garages, and Automotive Diagnostic Services is one company, which has been very successful in providing this. Seamus Ryan and Patrick Hendrick from ADS were at Automechanika meeting suppliers and checking out the very latest innovations in this fast changing sector.

ADS have developed a very close relationship with Autoland Scientech, a company at the forefront of diagnostic technology. It was introducing several new innovations at the show with two in particular being of special interest to the Irish market.

The CA15 Scopemeter is an effective entry-level diagnostic tool that can offer a convenient and cost effective alternative to more expensive oscilloscopes and other diagnostic tools. It features a dual mode multimeter with digital reading and oscilloscope with wave form. This means the CA15 can offer effective input and output testing on all ECU’s, including all sensors and devices and the charging system. The unit can also be used to test the primary and secondary ignition system, when used in conjunction with the IG-M1 Ignition tester. The functionality of the CA15 can also be expanded to encompass vacuum gauges, current clip and pressure meter.

Also attracting great interest on the stand was the PS-M1 Vehicle Power Stabiliser. Seamus Ryan comments, "Ensuring a constant power supply during diagnostic work and ECU programming can be a major problem for some garages.” He adds, "For example, updating electronic systems on later model BMWs can be a very time consuming process and maintaining a constant power source throughout is not always easy.”

The PS-M1 provides an effective solution to this problem, monitoring and maintaining the power source at the required level. It features easy operation with clear voltage and current indicators. No set-up is required and a warning mode can avoid any problems for systems and batteries. The unit protects on-board computers during programming and maintains the correct current and voltage at all times during diagnosis, update procedures and calibration.

The unit has a fixed output of 14 volts and output current of 70A (Max 110A).
