Meet the Maextro, the new luxury contender from China
Share:

If you thought you might have been getting to grips with the influx of new automotive manufacturers coming from China, here is one you probably do not know. The Maextro S800 is a joint venture between Huawei and JAC and is a long way from most of the other EVs coming out of China.

This is a very large luxury limo type vehicle with hints of Rolls Royce and Maybach in the design. It has been created to offer the appeal of high class brands, with plenty of upmarket materials and hi-tech, but at a much lower price.

With the backing of two Chinese company giants, the new brand will debut in the spring of 2025. The makers say that the Maextro S800 is bigger than 99.99% of the cars on Chinese roads. It is a full electric and is expected to have price tag in the region of €150,000.

It is questionable how much appeal the Maextro will command in the European market. Apart from the lack of brand appeal and the questionable styling, its name is perhaps also a little close to the much maligned Austin Maestro for comfort.
