Research by motoring solutions specialist, easytrip Ireland, has revealed that a third of Irish motorists are considering the purchase of a new vehicle in the second half of 2016.

54% of those surveyed are looking to purchase a new 162 model while 46% are considering a used vehicle.

Of those that are considering a new vehicle purchase, 46% are seeking a similar size to their current vehicle, 31% are looking to upgrade to a larger model while 8% hope to downsize to a smaller model and engine size.  The easytrip research also revealed that 14% are looking to purchase a second family car.

"Our research shows that a significant number of drivers are looking to upgrade their vehicles during the 162 registration period.  We are advising all our customers to remember to remove their easytrip tag from their vehicle before making the exchange and to update your account details once change of ownership has been processed", says Colin Delaney, General Manager, easytrip Ireland.

Easytrip is reminding customers who are buying a new vehicle to update their account details to avoid incurring toll bills and penalty notices from motorway operators.
