Now available from techntools.ie, is the Laser Tools Transmission Support Arm that can greatly simplify the process of removing and refitting a gearbox. 

Used in combination with a traditional gearbox jack, the arm supports the gearbox from above. The specially shaped arm goes up the side of the gearbox to give an attachment point to hang the support strap and chains supplied. Because the gearbox is hanging from the support it is much easier to manoeuvre both in and out of position. The Laser Transmission Support Arm turns a gearbox jack from an underneath support into a much more stable over the top support while still maintaining the ability to work from underneath.  

The arm has many applications and is especially useful in tight engine bays and  transmission tunnels, including: Citroën Berlingo Van, Fiat 500, Ford Fiesta, Focus, KA & Kuga, MINI, Honda Civic, Honda CRV, Hyundai I32, Land Rover Defender, Nissan Navara (with transfer), Peugeot 207 & 208, Renault Trafic, Renault Captur, Vauxhall Vivaro, Volvo XC90, VW Touran, VW Tiguan, VW Golf.

This tool is a great job time saver and also means improved stability requiring only one person for the process. The benefits of having the gearbox suspended from above is that the technician can  move the gearbox through all three axes of movement making the removal and replacement easier, quicker and safer.

The arm has a 200kg safe working load and is designed to fit vertical transmission jacks with 25mm and 30mm shafts.
