Nissan has done something rare at the Tokyo Motor Show, now rebranded the Japan Mobility Show, shocking the motoring world with a new concept car that no one expected. The company has introduced a car that revives the spirit of its iconic GT-R and brought it into the future with full electric power.

Although not officially branded a GT-R, the Hyper Force, is an ultra futuristic all-wheel drive 1000kW concept that harks back to the design of Nissan supercar of decades past. Nissan executives bill it as "Nissan’s vision for a next-generation all-electric high-performance supercar."

The use of solid state batteries will allow the car to deliver impressive performance and a practical range, while it will also benefit from Nissan's e-4orce electric all-wheel-drive system which can send power to the wheel with the most grip for optimal performance. There is also a lightweight aerodynamic body made mainly of carbon fibre.

Throughout the design there are lots of GT-R styling cues, such as the four circular tail-lights and even a blurred GT-R badge. The drive modes of the car are also presented as R (racing) and GT (grand touring). The Hyper Force also features autonomous driving technology.

Keeping up this theme, the interior has been inspired by racing video games and has been designed in conjunction with Polyphony Digital, the creators of the Gran Turismo series.

As yet there is no word on possible production, but the design certainly hints that the GT-R legend will live on.
