Derek Tohill, a man who many in the trade will know as a Director of PartsforCars in Dublin, spent last year involved in one of Europe's toughest fought motorsport challenges and came out on top.  

Derek and his team were crowned 2013 FIA European RallycrossRX Touring Car Champions after an impressive list of results and four overall victories with their Ford Fiesta Mk7 RWD.  Derek says, “At the start of the year we were not really sure how competitive we might be against some superb drivers and better financed teams. However, as the season went on we realised we had the speed to win races and thanks to the great efforts of the team, we were able to take the title.
 
The new series will involve races on at least three continents. There will also be two car
teams and Derek says he has already had some high profile approaches from drivers looking to partner him. However, to make it all happen, the team must secure a bigger budget. He comments, “We are looking especially to Irish and UK companies that want to gain exposure in what will be a huge motor sport series. It is a great opportunity to get involved in a sport that is really exciting and let’s sponsors and spectators get very close to the action. Rallycross if officially the fastest growing form of motorsport in the world.�

As Derek points out the European RallycrossRX Touring Car Championship was itself a huge event and the World Championship will be even bigger.

Preparations for next season are now well underway and the aim is for Derek and his team to go for the new world title.
