Brake disc hubs – imitations alert
Share:

The NTN-SNR Group is a major OE supplier of wheel bearings worldwide. SNR have developed a range of complete brake discs with integral wheel bearings to cover popular Renault (including common Vauxhall and Nissan models) and Peugeot-Citroen rear disc applications.

The content of SNR‘s brake discs strictly follows OE/OES design. Each kit includes a wheel bearing fitted into a brake disc as well the auxiliary components necessary to complete the replacement i.e. nut, grease cap.

A number of brake discs imitations have been identified in the market with design features that could be dangerous for the end-user‘s safety.

These have been found in particular for the following models:
- Renault Traffic/Nissan Premaster (SNR KF155.70U),
- Renault Megane Scenic/Megane SW (SNR KF155.73U),
- Renault Megane II/Modus/Clio  (SNR KF155.77U),
- Renault Scenic II/Megane II SW  (SNR KF155.78U),
- Renault Grand Scenic (SNR KF155.79U),
- Renault Laguna II (SNR KF155.81U),
- Renault VelSatis/Espace IV (SNR KF155.83U).

Intensive tests have been performed by NTN-SNR and conclude:
  - The fitted bearings do not follow the OE-specifications, in particular their lifespan and quality.
  - Reduced lifespan can lead to premature failure and is a risk to the correct functioning of the brake disc.
  - The magnetic sensor rings fitted on the discs used for ABS and ESP systems are not of OE quality (some of them do not even have the same number of poles). This could lead to fatal accidents.
For the safety of your customers and your peace of mind always make sure that the bearing shows the SNR trademark.
