The bilstein group has added traction battery compartment cabin filters to it range of Blue Print brand components, creating a new filtration product-type. 

The 9 new articles cover 54 hybrid and electric vehicle applications. These filters are designed to protect the cooling air intake for the high-voltage traction battery and, as a result, provide an interesting opportunity in the aftermarket for the ever-growing hybrid/electric vehicle sector. Added to this is the current advantage of limited competition in the aftermarket.
 
The filter is positioned inside the vehicle and due to its location can collect large amounts of dust and other debris from within the cabin itself. If the filter gets blocked, this will limit the cooling airflow to the traction battery which can trigger an error message on the dash-screen prompting the driver to carry out maintenance. As a result, it is important to replace these filters at the manufacturer’s specified service intervals to avoid issues with the battery system.
