A bright idea for vehicle visibility

The problem of larger vehicles being seen on the road at night time and in poor visibility can be very serious. This is not only an important safety issue, but it can be very costly to vehicle fleet operators in terms of vehicle downtime and repair costs.

Dutch company Arlon is now offering a quick and easy solution to this issue in the shape of its R104 conspicuity tapes. Studies show that vehicle conspicuity tapes can reduce the number of accidents by an average of 33% in certain lighting conditions.

This special tape is designed for trucks, trailers and other vehicles requiring conspicuity marking mandated by the ECE 104 Regulation. The tape offers bright colours which provide excellent reflectivity so that vehicles can be seen at a long range in low light or poor weather conditions. It features Prismatic technology which works by refracting light from inner prism surfaces. Light strikes the surfaces of the prism and is bounced back to its source. Arlon prismatic conspicuity tapes contain 8000–10000 prisms per square centimetre, which mean very high reflection values from all angles.

R104 is quick and easy to apply with a strong adhesive that will securely adhere to any rigid surface. It is also highly durable and able to withstand most industrial cleaning processes, including high-pressure power washing.

The tape is certified to Regulation ECE 104 Class C standard, offers 7 year durability and is available in white, red and yellow colour options.

The R104 conspicuity tape is distributed in Ireland by D&S Roe.
