VW Group 2.0 FSI & 2.0 TFSI Engines have an oil filter housing with a disposable filter element. The housing has a built-in spring loaded valve in its base to allow the oil to be drained from the filter prior to removal. By doing this you can avoid messy and inconvenient spillage of oil into the engine bay.  

The AST6054 Adaptor is a convenient toll designed to allow the oil filter housing to be drained prior to removal. The adaptor simply screws into the base of the filter housing and opens a spring loaded valve allowing for the oil to be drained cleanly and safely prior to removal of the element. The valve then closes when the AST6054 is removed.

VAG Workshop Instructions advise “Before removing the oil filter you must drain engine oil from the filter so that it does not spill onto the engine or other components.”

This makes the AST6054 an essential time saving tool when working on a wide range of VAG models VAG 2.0FSi / TFSi engines. This includes the following applications:
